My Answer

Giveaways are definitely a part of my blog! Sometimes I participate in giveaway blog hops, which are hosted by certain blogs. There are seasonal giveaway hops that I LOVE to participate in, such as the Spooktacular Giveaway Hop, which is held every October, usually from around the middle to the end of the month, and the Midwinter's Eve Giveaway Hop, which takes place in December. These hops are hosted by Kathy @ I Am A Reader, and Mary @ Bookhounds and Bookhounds YA.

I also participate in blog tours, and these usually include giveaways. I'm currently participating in three of these, two sponsored by Bewitching Book Tours, and one by YA Bound Book Tours.

Also, from time to time I hold my own giveaways. For instance, there's my blogoversary giveaway, which I host every September, in order to celebrate my blog's birthday. In the past, I've also held book cover giveaways, in which readers win the book whose cover they prefer.

It's a LOT of fun to host these events!! However, I try to strike a balance in the types of posts I publish. Some blogs only feature blog tours, or only reviews, and so on. I believe in having some variety, so I publish reviews, blog tour posts (with or without giveaways), and also participate in weekly memes.

Here are the three  current blog tour giveaways, as well as samples of giveaways that I participate in every year, and last year's blogoversary giveaway. Just click on all the banners and buttons to be taken to the giveaway pages.

I haven't been part of any giveaway hops recently, and I really miss doing that! So stay tuned for the Midsummer's Eve Giveaway Hop, which kicks off on June 21st!! I have already signed up for this event, and will have an AWESOME prize ready to give away!

  1. I've been thinking about hosting more giveaways and you make it sound like a lot of fun! I'll have to put more thought into it! The only giveaways I host at the moment are through blog tour companies.

  2. Hi, Katherine!

Yes, it is indeed a lot of fun! I enjoy preparing the posts, and get excited when I see people entering!

I love it, though, when blog tours have giveaways, as this helps me out, as well. After all, I'm not rich, so I can't be giving away books or gift cards every month. Lol. Some blogs ask for donations to help cover giveaway costs, but I've never done that, nor do I plan to. Giveaway prizes are gifts. I just don't feel right about asking for donations.

Be sure to check out the giveaway hops I mentioned above! You can get a lot of visitors to your blog, and also enter some fabulous giveaways yourself!

Thanks for dropping by and commenting!! :)

  3. Giveaways are so much fun, but also can be a lot of work. I think it's great that you enjoy hosting them. I rarely do anymore, even when it's an option with a tour. So many of the giveaways are limited to the U.S. and Canada and I hate leaving out any of my readers from other countries. I used to offer up my own copy to an international winner on my own just to keep it fair. It got to be too expensive though.

    1. Hi, Wendy!

You're right -- they're fun, but can also be a LOT of work! Still, I do enjoy doing them, from time to time. I've usually made mine international, as I don't think it's fair for readers in other countries to be left out. However, I have found out that there's an extra tax you have to pay to have books delivered to certain countries, so I might not be making my giveaways international anymore. Lol.

I avoid giving away my own copies, as then I have to go to the post office myself, and that's such a pain! I don't like having to wait in line.

It can indeed get expensive to host one's own giveaways (the ones not included in blog tours). Some bloggers ask for donations to cover the cost of holding giveaways, but I've never done that, nor am I going to. Why would I charge my readers for books that are supposed to be gifts? No way!! So I do have to limit my own giveaways to a certain extent.

Thanks for dropping by and leaving such a great comment!! :)
